I am looking around to find some way to connect with people who want to do homesteading on our land in Northern Canada but don't know where to begin--any suggestions?

In part you are right the days of homesteading is long gone, in Canada the last land to be homesteaded was in the 1960's. But there is a new movement afoot that calls itself homesteading, and I full into this movement. But to be honest we are just people that have decided to leave the city and find a little piece of raw land in the country and live a simpler life and be as self-sufficient as we can be. Modern day homesteaders come in all forms and some even homestead in the city. So how I came to be a homesteader I wanted a much simpler life style and I really wanted to be with my wife and children everyday, I believe you can either make money and pay someone to provide the things you need to live with or you can provide for yourself. The nice thing with providing for yourself is you can teach your children and be with them, our life is very much about living together and learning as we go, we love it and would never live any other way.

My husband recently added on to our house--an attached garage with a HUGE living room (great room, I suppose it should be called) above it. It has been a wonderful addition, especially since we have 5 young children!

I look forward to reading more! - Tracey

Hello, I found your blog through Entrecard. I've been reading your wife's blog for a few weeks now but didn't realize SHE was YOUR wife until I saw her on your August top-droppers list. What happened in September? Just kidding!

I'm enjoying your blog. We used to 'homestead' on almost three acres but now we're suburbians with just a yard. We did grow carrots, potatoes, and corn anyway!
